The sexiest eye makeup that one can wear on any occasion or any day of the week is the smokey eyes look. Smokey does not really mean you have to go for black shades only; you can go for brown, blues, green and purple. It just requires a bit of practice, before you are able to produce beautiful results (practice before the big evening, to avoid any mishaps).
The trick to smokey eye is perfect blending, if you are unable to mix it well, then the overall result will be childish. Start off with the basics, apply primer or eye shadow base, this will ensure that you have brighter color application and it will let the color stay for a longer period (without smudging). After this if you are going with the classic black palette then, apply silver base color to give a uniform look, to the entire eye lid. Once this step is covered, add in midnight blue starting from the outer contour of the eye. You should start this from the lash line and take it up to the crease of the eyelid.
To enhance the blue add black, again to the outer edge of the eye, gradually bringing it inwards without picking up more color on the applicator. Top it up with black eyeliner over the upper lash line and on the lower lash line. Add in thick coats of mascara, to finish off the smokey look. Mascara always makes the eye prominent, do not only use it over the upper lashes, but also apply it on the lower lash, a huge difference can be created. To balance the eyes, apply silver on the inner eye, to make it appear open and brighter.
For brown smokey effect, start off from the basics (primer – also after applying the primer, dab powder over it this will make the primer set), then add beige as a neutral color over the entire eyelid. Then add mud brown over the eyes – starting from the lash line till the crease of the eyes. To finish off add in chocolate brown on the outer edge of the eyes and bring it inwards. Then use brown eye liner over the eye to complete the soft, but elegant look. You may add in gold, on the inner eye to make it appear more enhanced and Goddess like. Apply kohl pencil on the water line of the eyes – this is to ensure that there are no white spots left in the eyes. End it with good coats of mascara.
The blue palette is really tricky, but if you are able to master it, then there is no seductive look like it. Start off with sky blue as the base color (after the primer and the powder) then apply dodger blue on the eyelid – starting from the lash line till the crease and end it up with applying midnight blue, at the outer edge of the eye to enhance the colors and the eyes further. End it with blue eyeliner (you can go black) and black kohl pencil on the waterline. Last but not the least will be thick coats of mascara. With smokey look, you need to be extra careful for any run down (you don’t want to end up looking like a raccoon by the end of the evening).
